Hemant AMIN, Managing Director

Hemant is associated
with Kawamin as a primary promoter since its inception in 1993. He took over as its
Managing Director since Apr 1998. He has been instrumental in bringing discipline and
focus to the company’s various business lines. As a result, Kawamin’s business
lines are focused around a few core competencies and emphasis is on growing volumes in
those business lines. Since 1998, the company has also focused on profitability rather
than turnover in contrast to most trading companies.
He has also been
instrumental in implementing systems for corporate risk management, de-risking of
structured transactions, financial management, accounting, cost controls and profit
sharing among the staff. Additionally he also heads the capital allocation and Investment
portfolio functions of the company.
Since April 2001, Hemant
is also the primary promoter and Director of Allindia Technologies Ltd., Kolkata, India, a leading information and
technology company in Eastern India. The company has an IT consultancy division which
develops software and web solutions and also owns and manages www.batchmates.com. Batchmates is one of Asia’s largest and
most widely used community portals which reunites friends, colleagues & relatives with
a database of over 1.2 million members and growing by approx 2,000 new registrations and
over 8,000 visitors daily.
From November 1993 to
March 1998, Hemant was the Executive Director and strategic shareholder of Steel Tubes of
Singapore Pte. Ltd., a major producer of tubing in ASEAN. The company was an Indian -
Japanese joint venture company incorporated in Singapore in 1981 and was formed in equity
partnership with Japanese firms Kobe Steel Ltd., Tokyo Boeki Ltd. and Japan Asean
Investment corporation (JAIC).
Hemant is also a Director
of family owned investment holding company Amin Manilal & Co. Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai.
He commenced his working
career with Coopers & Lybrand in London, UK (now PWC) where he was employed as an
audit trainee until 1993 after being recruited straight from University in 1990.
He graduated with a
double Major (Joint Honors) in Accounting & Economics from the University of Kent,
Canterbury, U.K. in 1990. Hemant is also an alumnus of Davies’s College, London, St.
Mary's High School, Mt. Abu, India, and K.C. College in Bombay, India.

..: Rachna AMIN, Joint Managing Director

Rachna is the
co-promoter and Joint Managing Director of Kawamin. Since 1993, she has personally
developed, and expanded the Non-Ferrous metals & Ferro Alloys business for the company
and charted the company’s growth into different product lines and into the Asian
markets. She heads the trading activities of the company on a daily basis as its Chief
Operating Officer and is instrumental in executing trades in a systematic, structured and
de-risked manner.
Rachna is also a Director
and strategic shareholder of Allindia
Technologies Ltd., Kolkata,
INDIA.
She commenced her working
career in 1991 as a business lecturer with Westminster College in London, UK, before
moving to Singapore.
She graduated with a
Major (Honors) in Management Science with Computing from the University of Kent,
Canterbury, U.K. in 1990. She also holds a Masters Degree in Industrial relations and
Personnel management from the London School of Economics, UK. Additionally, she is an
alumnus of Repton School, Derby, UK and The Daly College, Indore, India.
Rachna was born on 10th

Barry
joins Kawamin in his role as a hands-on trading professional with over 30 years of wide
and diverse experience in India and the Asia Pacific Region in successful development,
execution, marketing and management of international trade, shipping and logistics. He is
very well respected in the industry and is known for his fairness in all dealings. He has
proven track record of achievements with ability to direct, motivate and ensure
operational efficiencies and greater profitability through effective control of sourcing,
sales, quality assurance, banking, shipping, chartering, logistics & legal compliance.
Barry commenced his career as a Commercial Officer in the Central
Inland Water Transport Corporation Ltd., Calcutta (A Government of India Undertaking)
before joining the State Trading Corporation of India Ltd (STC) in Calcutta in 1977 as a
Deputy Marketing Manager (Shipping & Warehousing) and then moving on to STC/Bombay in
1981 and STC/Singapore in 1986 to take up new postings and challenges in commodity
trading.
In 1990 he joined ITC (an affiliate of British American Tobacco)’s
first outpost India as a Deputy General Manager and went on to spearhead ITC Global
Holdings Pte Ltd to become the first Indian Company in 1992 to be awarded the
"Approved International Trader" status by the Government of Singapore.
Subsequently, he joined the erstwhile Agio Countertrade Group and the RBG Group where new
diversifications and new businesses were started.
Barry is especially reputed for starting and nurturing new businesses
and new markets – key attributes for his role at Kawamin in generating new business.
Apart from starting new business lines for the various companies that he served since
leaving STC, he is accredited with loading the first railway containers in Haldia port in
1981 when such facilities did not exist in that port.
He graduated with Honors Degree in Chemistry from the Gauhati
University of Assam, India in 1969 and holds various certificates in Port and Harbour
Management and International Trade issued by the Institute of Port Management, Calcutta
and the Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. He is an alumnus of the prestigious St.
Edmunds College, Shillong, India.
Barry was born on 1st July 1947. He has lived in Singapore
since 1986 and is a permanent resident of Singapore. |
..: Asrar M., Country Head - India Operations

Asrar is a Mechanical
engineer with Graduate Diploma in Materials Management from Indian Institute of Materials
Management, Mumbai, India and certificate from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New
Delhi.
Immediately after
Engineering in 1987, Asrar joined as Management Trainee with Hindustan Aeronautics
Limited, thereafter as Trader with ITC Limited. He has played a pivotal role in
establishing bulk commodities business for ITC Global Delhi. Later Asrar moved to take
care of CIS operations of ITC Global Holdings as Sr. Manager - Russian Operations. Before
joining Kawamin as Country Head - India operations, Asrar was General Manager with Tirtmas
Comexindo, Divisional General Manager with Glint Exim Ltd and CEO of Scoot Exim Pvt Ltd.
As Country Head - India
Operations, Asrar is responsible for further strengthening Kawamin's presence in India and
building volumes & service levels in bulk commodities (Coal, Slag, Ferrous Scrap,
Steel) and Non-Ferrous metals (base metals and scrap)
Asrar was born on 7th
April 1963. He is an Indian Citizen. |
..: S. Ramesh, Manager

Ramesh joined Kawamin
in 1994 and has since been responsible for the entire logistics and back office support
functions on contract execution at Kawamin.
He has developed the
company’s Paper business in Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Korea, Srilanka, Malaysia,
Bangladesh and Eastern Europe.
Prior to Kawamin, Ramesh
was an executive assistant at STI Granite Ltd., Bangalore India.
He graduated with a
Bachelors of Science (Chemistry) from the University of Bangalore, in 1986. He is an
alumnus of Vijaya College, Bangalore.
Ramesh was born on 9th
April 1967. He is a permanent resident of Singapore. |
..: Krishna Rao, Finance Manager

Krishna Rao
is the Finance Manager of Kawamin.
Prior to Kawamin, Krishna was with
EBACO INTERNATIONAL PTE LTD. as its Finance Manager from 2000-2004.
Earlier in India, Krishna was with FALCON TYRES LTD. as an Accountant.
Krishna Rao holds a Bachelor of
Commerce from University of Bangalore and is a member of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India since 1987.
He was born on 21st April, 1962 and is a
Singapore Citizen. |
..: Esther Hung, Asst. Manager

Esther is
responsible for back office support in logistics and banking. In assisting on banking
finance and logistics, with her substantial experience in shipping and documentation, she
is instrumental in helping the company execute its trades on schedule and in the quickest
time possible.
Prior to Kawamin, Esther
was the Officer in charge of Shipping & Documentation at Pandai Steel Industry Pte
Ltd, Singapore from 1982 to 2002.
Esther is a GCE
‘A’ Level holder and a Diploma holder in Import Export Shipping awarded by the
Maritime Studies Centre.
Esther was born on 20th
Oct 1961. She is a Singapore citizen. |
..: Kenneth Leong, Operations Executive

Soon after completing his National Service with the Singapore Armed Forces
in 1974, Kenneth embarked on a career in Shipping and Trade Logistics by first serving as
an Operation Assistant with the Port & Marine Service (Pte) Ltd ( a subsidiary company
of the Singapore Port Authority) and then the Container Warehousing & Transportation
Pte Ltd before joining the feedmiller Sin Heng Chan (S) Pte Ltd in 1984 as a
Purchasing/Shipping Co-ordinator. In 1987 he graduated from the Institute of Purchasing
& Supply in the United Kingdom with specialisations in Quantitative Studies, English
Business Law, Business Accounting and Management Principles & Administration. In 1989
he took up the challenging post of a Shipbroker with Oceanfreighters Pte Ltd before
joining the global commodity trading majors ITC Global Holdings Pte Ltd in 1992 and Bakrie
Nusantara International Pte Ltd in 1997 as Operations Manager.
Kenneth's passion is
Shipping and Trade Logistics and his joining the Kawamin Team will only further enhance
the company's efficiency and commitment in these 2 very vital areas of its operations.
Kenneth was born on 15th
August 1953. He is a Singapore citizen.. |
..: Debasis Saha, Executive
 |
Debasis joined Kawamin in the year 2004. He is responsible for business
co-ordination with clients in Bangladesh and East India primarily. He is also account
executive supporting Finance department.
Before joining Kawamin,
Debasis worked with Allindia Technologies Ltd., Kolkata, India as an Executive for more
than two years. Prior to this, he worked in Infocom Network Ltd, India’s pioneer in
Yellow Pages.
He holds a Master Degree
in Commerce (M.Com) from University of Calcutta(Kolkata).
Debasis was born on 9th December, 1968
and he is an Indian Citizen. |
